The psychological toll of being a first responder in Edmonton
Trauma and danger, among other stressors like high workloads, come with being a first responder — but they take a mental toll. CBC News obtained workers’ compensation data that shows, over the past five years, hundreds of first responders in Edmonton have had to step away from duty due to psychological injuries.
